Myelination
- Neuron axons are coated with myelin during this stage
- Process reaches it peak about 1 year after birth
- this is when infants gain garter controls of their bodies and begin to develop the ability to communicate verbally
- Failure in this stage may result in hypomyelination, a reduced ability to form myelin resulting in intellectual disability
